G.Network has agreed a pair of exciting partnerships that will unlock its gigafast broadband speeds for more Londoners.
A wayleave agreement with Islington Council and a partnership with the Greater London Authority (GLA) evidence G.Network's vital position in building and delivering gigabit services across the capital, and play an important role in the G.Network's ambitious growth plans.
According to recent data from broadband information site, Thinkbroadband, less than half of Islington premises can currently access a full fibre connection. G.Network’s partnership with Islington Council means thousands of homes will now have access to G.Network’s infrastructure, with speeds up to 1Gbps – around x10 faster than London’s average broadband speed.
G.Network and Islington Council are working together closely to set up even more homes across the borough, marking a step forward in creating a better-connected London.
As part of its ambition to make its powerful 100% fibre network accessible and affordable to all, G.Network also offers a social tariff, Essential Fibre. This tariff provides eligible residents with access to full fibre broadband for just £15 a month. The partnership with Islington Council also includes free fast broadband connections for a number of community facilities.
G.Network's work in Islington is mirrored across the capital, with the full fibre provider collaborating with the GLA and other stakeholders on the 'Dig-Once' approach which aims to reduce disruption, congestion and economic losses sometimes associated with infrastructure delivery. By working closely with the GLA, G.Network has already been able to save 250 days of disruption to local London communities and is continuing to strive to improve the build and delivery of its gigabit services across the capital.
