The ability to meet the growing demand for high‑capacity 100G enterprise connectivity has received a significant boost thanks to a new customer-edge deployment of the HUBER+SUHNER CUBOsystem 400G muxponder by TOWARDEX. Rolled out across the Boston area, the solution will scale services at the metro edge to enable high-bandwidth connectivity to be delivered straight to customer premises and campus locations.
TOWARDEX has partnered with HUBER+SUHNER to integrate 400G muxponding and media conversion capabilities directly at the customer edge, bringing a compact, high-performance, and cost-efficient architecture designed to support the transition to 800G and 1.6T optical transport.
“The traditional way of delivering 100G to customer campuses has been too cumbersome, expensive or power-hungry, and only able to scale in a limited fashion,” said James Jun, CEO of TOWARDEX. “With the CUBO platform from HUBER+SUHNER, we’re now able to deliver 400G uplinks and break them into cost-efficient 100G services with far greater simplicity, flexibility and long-term efficiency.”
With the increasing demand for 100G services at office complexes, customer premises and multi-tenant environments across Boston and New England, TOWARDEX opted for the CUBOsystem 400G solution to deliver a high-capacity 400G uplink into a customer’s location and break it out into multiple cost-efficient 100G circuits, improving operational flexibility and overall cost-per-bit.
Serving some of Boston’s largest enterprise and carrier networks, the company also needed a carrier-grade, compact solution capable of supporting both media conversion and muxponding at the metro edge.
“From a technical and operational standpoint, the CUBOsystem platform gives us the flexibility we need at the edge,” Jun added. “It integrates cleanly with our existing ROADM architecture, reduces the amount of equipment required at the customer sites, and streamlines how we scale services across the region.”
The proven reliability of the CUBOsystem product line, designed for dense metro, access and harsh-environment deployments, makes it a strong fit for TOWARDEX’s distributed edge architecture.
“From the beginning we needed a partner who could accommodate our needs to deliver carrier-grade optical transmission equipment to our customer demarcation locations,” continued Jun. “HUBER+SUHNER brought the right expertise, willingness to test and adapt, and deep experience in deploying high-performance fiber systems in challenging edge environments. They exceeded our expectations.
