Australian households are saving up to $1,000 each year on energy bills, thanks to a landmark large-scale rooftop solar initiative delivered by Venergy Solar Australia in partnership with property developer Stockland.

The initiative has been rolled out across four of Stockland’s Halcyon communities in Victoria, and involves the installation of 1,120 solar systems equipped with advanced Power Line Communication (PLC) technology.

Leveraging existing fibre optic infrastructure and consumer hardware in an innovative way, the model provides real financial savings for residents.

Matthew Wilkins, CEO and founder of Venergy Solar Australia, said the project demonstrates how proven technology, applied in new ways, can unlock benefits for both communities and developers.

“By rethinking how we apply solar technology, we’ve reduced installation costs by 90 per cent and opened the door to affordable, clean energy for thousands of Australians,” he said.

“With savings of up to $1,000 per household annually, this partnership shows that embedded electricity networks no longer need to be shut out of the renewable transition, instead, they can lead the way in delivering financial relief for households and significant environmental benefits at scale.”

Stockland’s Halcyon Victorian communities are expected to avoid approximately 6,950 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually – equivalent to removing more than 1,500 cars from the road each year. It also provides the capability to integrate community batteries in the future, effectively setting the standard for new lifestyle and retirement developments nationwide.

“This collaboration with Stockland shows how commercially viable, future-ready renewable solutions can be delivered at scale. It sets a new benchmark for sustainable community design and positions developers to offer residents both cost-of-living relief and long-term environmental benefits,” Mr Wilkins said.
